Lucile Mann Lucile Mann not only dominated the game of golf in Iowa, she decided to do the same thing in Nebraska and Wisconsin. Overall, between the three states she accounted for 13 state women’s amateur championships; five in Iowa, three in Wisconsin, and five in Nebraska. Lucile’s national schedule included a victory at the 1933 Women’s Western Amateur. Her victory there allowed her to be selected to the first of two appearances with the Cutis Cup team. Besides winning the Iowa Women’s State Amateur five times, she won 5 Des Moines City Championships all of which came between 1926 and 1934. Finally her peak of success came in 1941 when she won both the Western Amateur and the Trans-Mississippi. Her five Nebraska state championships came after World War II when they had moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Lucile is also a member of the Des Moines Sunday Register’s Sports Hall of Fame.
