38 Junior Girls’ 4-State Coldwater GL, Ames July 1-3 Team Missouri’s final round charged at Coldwater Golf Links proved to be just enough to win the 50th Junior Girls’ 4-State Championship by four strokes. Leading the dramatic move up the leaderboard were Missouri teammates Sarah Bell and Amber Wilson. Arguably the most impressive finish by a pair of team- mates in 4-State history, Wilson birdied three of her last four holes and Bell finished her last seven holes eagle, birdie, birdie, birdie, par, par, par. Combined, the duo dropped the team total by seven strokes in the final seven holes. Also contributing to the Team Missouri victory was Olivia Sowers and Taryn Overstreet, both finishing at a 164 for the 36-hole championship and Samantha Corne- lius with an 87-85—172. This marks the fourteenth team win for Missouri and moves them into the lead of the overall victory tally. Team Kansas, also moving up the leaderboard in the second round, posted a two round team total of 308- 316—624. Molly Saporito was the low scorer on the team with a 76-74—150 and Abby Glynn was one shot back with a 74-77—151. Every player on Team Kansas contributed to their second place finish. Team Nebraska, the opening round leaders, finished 10 strokes back and in third place with a team total of 307-323—630. Megan Whittaker finished the highest in the standings for Nebraska with a 74-80—154 total. One shot back was Nicole Klbas with a 76-82—158 fin- ish in 9th place. Mizzou prevails with final round push Coldwater Golf Links Team Iowa finished in fourth place with a two-round team total of 634, fourteen off the lead. 2016 Junior Girls’ 4-State champion, Brooke Boardman of Waukee, led the team with a 75-74—149 landing her third place individually. Close behind, and tied for fourth, was Sarah Nacos of Washington with a 74-76— 150 total. Paige Hoffman of West Des Moines was by far the most improved player from the first round to the second with an 18-stroke improvement from 91 to 73 for a 164 total. Casey Noble of Morning Sun finished 89-86—175 and Jenna Krogulski of West Des Moines posted an 87-93—180 total. Team Nebraska will host the 2019 Junior Girls’ 4-State Championship. The Junior Girls’ 4-State Championship is composed of a golf team from Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. Each team consists of five girls and two coaches from each state. The four low scores of each team are added each day and totaled after the second day to determine the winner (similar to most high school or college tour- naments).
