46 IGA Women’s Club Team Ames Golf & CC, Ames August 6 The 57th IGA Women’s Club Team title stays in the hands of Hunters Ridge Golf Course for the second year in a row and fifth time since 2012. At Ames Golf and Country Club the team counted nine birdies and an eagle to ultimately land at two-over- par, 221. Their lead player, and low individual overall, was Julie Buerman of Cedar Rapids who posted five of the team birdies and the lone eagle. On the par 73 layout Buerman posted a five-under-par, 68, and finished four strokes ahead of the next best individual. Katie Wenthe posted a 76 and added two birdies to the Hunters Ridge team total. Kristina Meyer score an 83 and Carol Klocke posted an 84. Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course was next in line with a 227 total (+8) and counted an ace on hole fourteen by teammate Michelle Klein of Jesup. Also contributing to the runner-up finish was Margene Grady with four birdies, Kelly Nelson with two and Becky West with an individual score of 94. Briarwood Golf Club finished in third with a 233 total (+14). Hunters Ridge Golf Course also led the Net Division team title with a 192 total (-27), but the conditions of competition only allow a team to win in one division. This left two teams tied for second place at 197 (-22), Pheasant Ridge Golf Course and Woodland Hills Golf Course. The tie breaker method of low team total of all four ladies was used to determine the winner and Pheasant Ridge finished on top. Carol Phillips was low net on the team with a 66, next was Jeanette Fredericksen with net 70, then Jeanette Marsh with net 71 and Janet Christensen with net 77. The format of the event, for both gross and net, takes the best three of four scores on every hole and combines them for the team total. This type of competition allows each player to contribute throughout the round rather than just with their total score. The 2019 championship will be contested at Coldwater Golf Links in Ames.
