50 Iowa Junior Girls’ Amateur Coldwater GL, Ames August 7-8 Annika Patton, of Aurelia, earned her first Iowa Junior Girls’ Championship crown in the 16-18 Age Division. She went head to head in a two-hole playoff with Bailee Frayne, of Garner. Patton, who had just finished up her high school softball season, transitioned back to playing golf. There didn’t seem to be much rust on the clubs as she opened up her first round with a 73 (+4), to lead by three strokes over Frayne. Patton got off to a slow start in the final round with four bogeys and a double. She lost a stroke to Frayne who opened her outgoing nine with 39. The two entered the back nine, each with determination to take the outright lead. They battled it out but neither was able to gain the upper hand. Patton would end up shooting 79 (+10) for a total of 152 (+14). Frayne shot rounds of 76-76 -152 (+14). They would then go on to play the 18th and 17th holes in a sudden death playoff. Patton came out on top after making a solid putt for par on the second playoff hole (#17). In the 14-15 Division, Saffire Sayre of West Des Moines went wire to wire shooting 75-79 for a total of 154 (+16). Sayre won by nine strokes over Grace Butler of Arnolds Park, who shot 83-80-163 (+25). The Girls’ 12-13 Division was a fight between the Delong sisters of Clear Lake. Younger sister Meghan shot 79 to edge out Rebecca by a shot. The two also have an older sister Ashley, who finished T7 in the 16-18 Division. Lydia Smith of Des Moines finished third shooting 84. In the 11 & Under Division, 8-year-old Maicy Baker shot 48 to win outright over Lauren Nuss. Four Champions crowned at Junior Girls’ Allison Nuss
