2018 Yearbook
60 IGA Club Team The Ridge GC, Sioux Center October 1 The weather for the 2018 IGA Club Team Championship at The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center was not ideal. The day started with temperatures in the mid-40s with a light mist and, while it did gradually warm up and the rain subsided throughout the day, it never got pleasant outside. But the golf played by the team from Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City was more than pleasant. The squad of Troy Arends, Nick Baker, Bob Brummel and T.J. Korver teamed up for a blistering 1-under par 212 in those tough conditions to outpace runner-up Fort Dodge Country Club by nine shots. Korver led the team with a 2-under par 69 while Brummel was also under par with his 70. Baker was the third counting score with a 73 while Arends 78 was not used for the team total. Korver’s round was the low of the tournament while Brummel tied with Kevin Ault of Fort Dodge CC and Eric Moerman of The Ridge Golf Club for individual runner-up as each posted 70. Korver managed three birdies and an eagle to counteract three bogeys on the day. It was a terrific round in difficult conditions. In the net portion of the competition, the first ever co-champions were declared. The Ridge Golf Club and Willow Run Country Club both fired 8-under par 205 and, since neither was the winner of the gross competition, they were declared co-champions. The net competition counts the best 3 of 4 net scores on each hole toward the team total. The Willow Run CC (Denver, IA) team was made up of Nicholas Hildebrandt, Ryan McDaniel, Brian Schneider and Nate Skaar. McDaniel led the team with a net 69 while Skaar posted a fine net 71. The Ridge GC squad was led by Zeke Ellis, who shot a net 70. Brian DeBoer, Mike Plasier and Mark VanDenBerg also contributed heavily to the win. 2018 marked the 13th year of the IGA Club Team Championship. The Ridge Golf Club, which hosted in 2018, will host the 2019 Iowa Amateur Championship. Landsmeer wins Gross title; The Ridge & Willow Run share Net crown T.J. Korver of Landsmeer was the low scorer of the day, firing a 2-under par 69 for Team Landsmeer
