The duo got off to a terrific start, combining for a 67 (-5) on the first day. After going out in 37 (+1) in the final round, Schulte & Dunn knew they needed to get going if they wanted any chance at the trophy. Get going they did – In the tune of a back nine of 29 (-7) to win the championship by a shot over the hard-charging side of Jamie Faidley, of West Des Moines, and Patrick Breitbach, of Waukee. Faidley & Breitbach shot a nifty 65 (-7) of their own in the final round. Schulte & Dunn made five consecutive birdies from the tenth to the fourteenth, and closed in sterling fashion with birdies on the par-three sixteenth and par-four seventeenth. “We finally started getting looks (on the back nine),” Dunn said. “We had a couple on the front we didn’t make. Justin made a nice 15-footer on the twelfth. We just started hitting them close.” BOS LANDEN GOLF CLUB, PELLA SEPTEMBER 6-7, 2019 Schulte & Dunn put on a show Champions Justin Schulte (Urbandale) and Nate Dunn (Cedar Rapids)
