58 | EVENT #1 The first event of the IGA Women's Mid-Am Series was held in May at Irv Warren Memorial Golf Course in Waterloo. The event was the first of a new series of events the IGA launched in 2019, tailored toward mid-amateur women looking to compete in a fun atmosphere. The tournament was played in a Stableford format, in which women earned points in accordance with their hole scores in relation to par. Julie Buerman, of Cedar Rapids, secured victory by playing very consistent golf. She made par on the first nine holes, and a handful of birdies and bogies on the way home gave her 52 points on the round. In a tie for second was Clive's Robin Webb and Janece Schwartzkopf, of Stuart. Webb overcame a few bogies in the opening holes to score 48 points. She managed eight consecutive pars in the middle of her round and thirteen on the day. Schwartzkopf made par on her first eight holes and closed strong with two birdies en route to a tally of 48 points. In the Net-Division, Janece Schwartzkopf won by a commanding seven-point margin with 62 points. Local player Melinda Boyd, of Waterloo, had a strong performance with a net-total of 55 points on the day, which earned her Runner-up honors.
