| 59 EVENT #2 The second event of the IGA Women’s Mid-Am Series was contested at Edmundson Golf Course in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Katelynn Hogenson, of Ames, earned her first victory in a dramatic sudden death playoff over Julie Buerman, of Cedar Rapids. Buerman, who had won the first event of the series in Waterloo earlier in the summer, matched Hogenson’s score of 75 (+5). Hogenson made par on the first playoff hole to earn the win and the coveted pink sash. When asked if she had expectations prior to the event, Hogenson said “I just wanted to have a good time and get my feet wet again.” Hogenson, who serves as Director of Member Services & Women’s Golf for the Iowa Golf Association, is usually watching golf verses playing it. “I was more nervous than expected,” Hogenson said. “I kind of forgot about the feelings you get when you actually have to hit a ball under pressure.” Nicki Clayton captured the Net Division title with a score of 68 (-2). The tournament was played in a four-ball (2-Gal Best Ball) format, which led to great competition between several teams of ladies. Margene Grady & Rosalie Kubesheski, of Cedar Falls and Dubuque, respectively, were crowned the winners after a strong tag-team performance. Only on five holes did they have the same score, with one of them always there when the other needed it - a true "ham and egg" performance. They posted a 33 (-1) on the front nine and even par on the back to shoot a round of 70 (-1). The duo of Kelly Nelson & Michelle Klein, of Waterloo and Jesup, finished as runner-up with an even par round of 71. They each contributed two birdies and several pars to their score. Coming in third were Laura Leszczynski & Kelly Grimes of Saint Mary's & Indianola. They played well, both contributing two birdies in their efforts. In the Net-Division, Grady & Kubesheski picked up the victory as well. Finishing in the runner-up position was the Ankeny pair of Stacey Lazear & Kim Pinneke. They were a great pair, as they only made the same score on four holes all day. BEAR CREEK GOLF COURSE, FOREST CITY SEPTEMBER 7, 2019 Kubesheski & Grady pick up win
