Name City Total Davenport Country Club was a firm test of golf during the U.S. Open Local Qualifier. Medalist David Lawrence, of Moline, Illinois, was the only player able to break par while three others matched it. Lawrence, who admitted he has traveled the globe in order to pursue his professional golf career, shot 69 (-1) on a day that saw many players struggle to put a round together. The final two qualifying spots into U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying went to Sean McCarty, of Solon, and Frank Lindwall, of Cedar Rapids, via a three-way playoff along with Charles Jahn (1st Alternate), of Sperry, who all finished at 70 (E). However, that playoff proved to be for naught as Jahn would ultimately get a call from the USGA that he had a spot in the sectional round. Rapids +5 77 T5 Will Troy Naperville +5 77 T5 Tyler Isenhart Geneva +5 77 A blend of rain and wind separated the field at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in the U.S. Junior Amateur Sectional Qualifier in June. Drew Salyers, of Howard, OH, earned medalist honors. Salyers overcame four consecutive bogies on the front nine to shoot an even par 72. He made a charge on the inward nine that included three birdies to post a three-under par 33 on the back. Sean Curran, of New Lenox, IL, also punched his ticket to Toledo, shooting 74 (+2) to earn the final qualifying spot. Matthew Briggs, of Burlington, and Zach Place, of Roselle, IL, both shot 75 (+3) to finish in a tie for third. Briggs clinched the first alternate spot with a birdie in the playoff. Name City Total
