Feldick had a rollercoaster of a round with sparks of dominance, making 11 birdies in 36 holes. Meanwhile, McCoy settled for a flurry of pars, making 32 on the day. He then outlasted Sam Vincent, of Ames, to secure his spot into the U.S. Amateur on the first playoff hole. Earning Second Alternate was Ankeny’s Jon Olson. Nate also joined his dad, Mike, who was exempt into the U.S. Amateur at Pinehurst. It is believed to be only the fourth time a father/son duo played in the same U.S. Amateur. At the champonship, Nate would find himself in a 27 for 3 playoff for the final match play spots. He was eliminated on the second playoff hole. U. S . SENIOR AMATEUR CEDAR RAPIDS COUNTRY CLUB, CEDAR RAPIDS JULY 30, 2019 Sam Billmeyer, of Ankeny, earned an invitation to the 2019 U.S. Senior Amateur after defeating Jim Butler of Fort Madison in a playoff. Billmeyer and Butler each posted consistent rounds of 72, even par on the day. Billmeyer made his move early, with four consecutive birdies on the front nine. Butler claimed the first alternate spot after falling in the playoff.
