I had to be aggressive and maybe have a chip to make a birdie to win the tournament. The course is really nice, tough, but it was fun (to play).” Two Iowa State University teammates of the Chou sisters, Amelia Mehmet-Grohn and Taglao Jeeravivitaporn, finished in the top-five with 54- hole totals of 223 (+13) and 228 (+18) respectively. Mason City’s Sydney Eaton and Iowa City’s Dana Lerner rounded out the top-five finishers. In the Open Division, Rockwell City’s Kathy Fortune finished five shots clear of the field with rounds of 86-78-82 for a 54-hole tally of 246 (+36). Finishing runner-up was Indianola’s Kelly Grimes, who fired back-to-back 83’s in her final two rounds for a three- day total of 251 (+41). Rounding out the podium was Dubuque’s Rose Kubesheski, who carded a final round 82 to post a tournament total of 253 (+43). Jesup’s Michelle Klein clinched the Second Flight of the Open Divison, finishing four shots clear of Cedar Rapids’ Kim Fensterman. YiTing Chou (Ruby) made an incredible final round push with her 2-under-par 68. She was the only player to post a score in the 60s and accomplished it with two bogeys on the scorecard.
