IGA FOUR-BALL T he Ankeny duo of Connor Peck / Andrew Huseman had their backs against the wall on the final hole of the 24th IGA Four-Ball Championship. In order to force a playoff, one of the players needed to card an eagle on the 551 yard par-5 closing hole. Miraculously, Huseman’s third shot from88 yards out found the bottom of the cup, forcing a playoff at 130 (-14) with the side of EthanMechling / J.D. Anderson. “We made a nice birdie on the 17th hole as well,” Huseman said. “I was fortune enough to hit a one in a million shot to force a playoff.” On a back-and-forth day when several teams looked to have their sights set on the title, Huseman and Peck just tried to stick to their game plan. “I was looking at the scoreboard a little bit (online),” Peck said. “You still have to go out and golf your ball. You can’t control what the other guys are doing. We just tried to stay after it, but also stay patient.” They got after it – making up five shots in their last six holes en route to a final round of 64 (-8).
