The IGA veteran took advantage of the par-3’s and par-5’s all week, recording numerous birdies to help extend his lead. Christensen capped his tournament performance off in style, nearly acing the par-3, nineth and rolling in the birdie putt. “That was a nice way to finish,” Christensen said. “I birdied a lot of par threes this week.” Christensen remarked that he was able to acquire a lot of local knowledge during his practice rounds, which carried over into tournament success at the Quad Cities' course. “I owe a lot to Bill Tank, a member here (at Crow Valley),” Christensen said. “He took us around during our practice round and told us where to hit it and not to hit it. He said whatever you do, do not be above the hole. That was the key for me, I kept it below the hole all week.” Finishing runner-up was another Marshalltown competitor, Pat Ryan. Ryan opened with back-to-back rounds of 73 before closing with a final round of 79 (+7) for a three-day total of 225 (+12). Finishing in third place was John Brown, of Urbandale, who finished with a 54-hole tally of 226 (+13).
