Following an opening round of 76 (+4), Newkirk collected six birdies and an eagle during his final round en route to his victory. Finishing in a tie for runner-up were Bob Brooks (West Des Moines) and Curtis Holck (Ankeny) with 36-hole totals of 144 (E). Brooks fired a final round 69 (-3) to propel himself up the leaderboard. In the Super Senior Division, Marshalltown’s Pat Ryan cruised to a six-shot victory, posting a 69 (-3) in the final round to secure his lead over runner-up Jim Butler (Fort Madison). Ryan recorded five birdies during the final round, offset by only two bogies. Butler turned in a bogey-free final round of 68 (-4).
