ABOUT THE COVER Gene Elliott (R) hoists the U.S. Senior Amateur trophy with wife, and caddie, DaLena. The Championship was held at the Country Club of Detroit in August where he defeated Jerry Gunthrope of Ovid, Mich. in the finals 1 up. Gene and DaLena had quite the summer beginning with their trip to Ganton, England in July for the British Senior Amateur. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the two were required to quarantine in a London hotel for numerous days prior to the championship and endure frequent testing. The efforts paid off when Gene, the lone American, closed out the R&A event with a score of 290 (6-over- par) and a one stroke advantage on the demanding Ganton Golf Club track to claim the title. “She was already wife of the year for doing quarantining with me to let me play here and, as well as she caddied, I owe her big time.” Gene Elliott on wife, DaLena after British Senior Amateur Championship held in Ganton, England.
