JUNIOR GIRLS’ FOUR-STATE COLBERT HILLS GOLF COURSE - MANHATTAN, KS JUNE 29-JULY 1, 2021 T he 53rd Junior Girls' Four-State Championship title went to Team Nebraska after a dominating final round of golf at Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kansas. The Junior Girls' Four-State Championship is an event represented by six girls and two coaches from Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska. The first round of the event is Four-Ball matches, followed by Foursome matches on the same day. The final round consists of singles matches where each girl represents their state independently. Team Iowa was represented by Paige Hoffman of West Des Moines, Tatum Depuydt of Marion, Kylie Carey of Waukee, Erika Haolmberg of Bettendorf, Rylee Heryford of Newton, and Saffire Sayre of West Des Moines. The team was coached by Julie Buerman of Cedar Rapids and Michelle Klein of Jesup. Scores were close after the Four-Ball round. Nebraska and Missouri shared the lead and Iowa and Kansas were only one point away. Iowa's Paige Hoffman and Kylie Carey gave Iowa their first point after going 1 Up in their match against Kansas. The second round kicked off and Missouri grabbed the solo lead after scoring 2.5 points in the Foursome matches. Nebraska added two more points to their total and found themselves down half a point going into the final day. Iowa's Erika Holmberg and Tatum Depuydt won their match 2&1 against a Nebraska duo and put Iowa in third place. Iowa went into the final round down 2.5 points. Nebraska turned it up a notch in the final round, winning all six of their matches. This propelled them into first place where they ultimatly won the event by 3 points over Missouri. Nebraska tallied a three-round total of 10 points. Iowa snagged two wins over Kansas from Saffire Sayre and Tatum Depuydt.
