2022 Yearbook

10 FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 2 022 was a banner year for the IGA. We have reached a high mark in membership since at least 2003. Championship entries were up virtually across the board. Golf around the state was busier than ever and we announced the largest project in the history of the IGA. A lot was going on! In August we announced plans to construct “Golf House Iowa”, a facility that will feature the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame and Museum, a large area dedicated to introducing people to the game, and office space for the IGA and IGA Foundation (as well as the Iowa Turfgrass Institute and First Tee - Central Iowa). You can see full details on this project by visiting iowagolf.org/golfhouseiowa. We are closing in on our fundraising goal of $5 million and hope to have reached that mark when we break ground in spring 2023. The facility should be completed in about 10-12 months, which means we should be able to welcome visitors in spring 2024! We still have a lot to accomplish to make this a reality, but I will take a moment to thank our committee of board members and donors for their efforts. They have been crucial to this process and we would not be where we are today without them. The tournament season once again saw very kind weather, for the most part. And, once again, we saw some notable accomplishments. Nate McCoy and Mike McCoy became the first father-son combo to win Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year, respectively, in the same season. Nate nearly claimed every tournament he played in, capturing wins at the Iowa Amateur, IGA Match Play, Iowa Mid-Amateur, CHAD PITTS, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR/CEO, IGA & IGAF Golf House Iowa lobby.
