91 S torm Lake resident Aaron Clausen made the home folks proud with his win at the Lake Creek Amateur on Sunday, May 29. He carded rounds of 71 and 70 to claim the title by two strokes over former champion J.D. Anderson, of Johnston, in an event completed under gusty conditions at Buena Vista University Golf Course at Lake Creek. Clausen shot a 1-under-par 71 on Saturday to hold the first-round lead with Freddy Bullock, a Dordt University golfer from Sioux Center. Clausen then shot 9-hole scores of 34 and 36 on Sunday for a 2-under-par 70, enough for a two- stroke cushion over Anderson, who had rounds of 73 and 70. Bret Taylor, of Booneville, earned the Senior Division title with a 73 in the first round and a 75 in the final round. Taylor held a two-shot lead over Winterset's Kirk Macumber, who carded a 150 two round total. Joel Yunek, of Mason City, took home the Super Senior Division trophy with rounds of 82 and 78. Yunek defeated Tom Schill, of Gowrie, in a three-hole playoff to claim the championship title.
