2023 IGA Yearbook

12 HANDICAPPING & COURSE RATING A s the final days of 2023 draw near, I reflect on what a great year it has been. There were many great successes and highlights to mention but before I do, I would like to thank all our friends in the golf industry for collectively helping make 2023 such a great success. It is because of you that the game is thriving and alive. Let’s keep building and moving forward! On the membership side, I am excited to announce, the Iowa Golf Association experienced yet another year of significant growth. Individual Memberships were up 11% from the previous year reaching just shy of 27,700 total members! This growth has been very exciting to see but reminds us that we must stay focused to ensure these golfers have a great experience and continue playing the game. The IGA also welcomed 14 new member clubs in 2023 contributing to a 4% increase. We feel very fortunate to work with these new clubs which span all across the state. I believe there is not a better time to become a member of the Iowa Golf Association than today. The benefits available to our clubs are more useful and practical than ever before. The number of Course Ratings provided this year also increased. There were 37 Course Ratings performed in 2023 making it a very busy season. Along with these ratings, the IGA has been making a great effort to provide ratings for all sets of tees for both men and women. In the past a course may have only had one set of tees rated for women and only the longer sets of tees rated for men. This season, out of the 349 tees BILL EBY, COMMITTEE CHAIR
