2025 Yearbook
30 2025 CHAMPIONSHIPS IGA participants once again shined bright this past season. As IGAMember Clubs opened their doors to the state's best amateurs, it was only a matter of time before trophies were handed out and names were etched in history. Without the support of our member clubs, these championships would not have been made possible. Enjoy this deep dive into the 2025 championship schedule! The Iowa Women’s Amateur returned to the newly renovated Wakonda Club in Des Moines and the Iowa Amateur was contested at its inaugural host, the Des Moines Golf & Country Club. Both championships were won by top collegiate players as Iowa State’s Pimkwan Chookaew took home the Fladoos Family Trophy and Owen Sawyer captured the Elliott Family trophy. While Sawyer won in con- vincing fashion, Chookaew needed two extra holes to walk away victorious. Returning to old favorites, Veenker Memorial was added back into the rotation in 2025 as they hosted the IGA Senior Match Play Championships in which three of the top seniors captured titles. Gene Elliott, Tony Malizia, and Tish Boothe survived stroke play qualifying and four rounds of matches in grueling August weather in route to adding to their trophy cases. Terrace Hills GC in Altoona, often host of the Central qualifier for the Iowa Am- ateur, welcomed a new field of players as they hosted the Inaugural Iowa Adaptive Open. Players from across the country made the trip to the metro as the IGA con- tinued to expand the golfers they serve in an inclusive and adaptive championship. Continuing to expand on relationships with member clubs, the IGA took cham- pionships to first time venues in Glynns Creek GC (Junior Amateurs), Rice Lake GC (Senior Women’s), & Lakeside Municipal GC (Mid-Am Series Event #3) this past season. Catering to a wide variety of IGA participants, these venues solidified themselves as elite destinations for many of the championships offered. In addition to those championships listed, the IGA conducted events at the fol- lowing premiere venues: Finkbine GC (IGA Four-Ball), Whispering Creek GC (Iowa Mid-Amateur), Coldwater Golf Links (Senior Amateur), Grinnell Col- lege GC (Forever-39), Jester Park GC (Father/Son & Parent/Child), Prairie Links (Women’s Four-Ball), Hyperion Field Club (Herman Sani), Bos Landen GC (IGA Women’s Club Team), Sunnyside G&CC (Wife/Husband), Burlington GC (IGA Senior Four-Ball), Echo Valley CC (Directors Cup), Short Hills CC (IGA Club Team), & Ames G&CC (Iowa Cup Matches).
