7 Al Nelson 1945 - 2025 Al was born November 5, 1945, in Fort Dodge, the son of Stanley and Marguerite (Fos- ter) Nelson. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1963, and continued his edu- cation at Iowa State University where he earned his BS degree. He worked for IBM in his early career before venturing out on his own as an inventor of various golf equipment. A dedicated historian, Al was known for his passion for research and deep curiosity about the past. He served on the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame Committee for over a decade. Jack Peacock 1940 - 2025 Jack was born on January 10, 1940, in Newhall, Iowa to Leonard and Audrey (Wienands) (Joyce) Peacock. Jack served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 – 1961. He married Penelope Ann West (from Nevada, Iowa) on June 18, 1966. Jack was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 308 before transitioning to the Millwrights Union Local 2158 until his retirement in 2005. From a young age, Jack developed a love for hunting and fishing. Later in life, he started golfing. He fell in love with the sport and all the many relationships and friends that he made through the years while golfing. Gar y Louvar 1951 - 2025 Gary Lee Louvar, a PGA Golf Professional from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on January 16, 2025, after a long battle with kidney cancer. He was involved in golf from an early age, building the original 9 holes of Northbrook Golf Course (now St. Andrews Golf Course) in Cedar Rapids with his family. After college, he operated the St. Andrews golf facility for 10 years and then served as PGA Golf Professional at various courses, in- cluding Reid Municipal Golf Course and four City of Cedar Rapids golf courses, retiring in 2015. Jay Roth 1959 - 2025 Born in Mt Pleasant, IA on November 24, 1959, to Royce Benji Roth and Eileen Kay (Buzzard) Roth, Jay spent his life growing grass and making sure it stayed green. Jay grew up in Washington, IA but moved to many different areas of the country for his career as a golf course superintendent and never failed to greet the dawn rising over the greens each morning with enthusiasm.
