Kubesheski tops Forever 39 Match Play
Rose Kubesheski was the wire-to-wire leader at the 53rd
IGA Forever 39 Match Play Championship at Urbandale
Golf and Country Club. She fired the lone under-par
score in the stroke play round, with a one-under, 36 to
secure the number-one seed in the Championship Flight
bracket.
Kubesheski went 3-0 en route to her Forever 39 title.
Her quarterfinal match with Julie Buerman took an
extra hole to decide a winner, but in the end, Kubesh-
eski would roll to the semifinals. There, she was pitted
against Kelly Grimes, whom she beat 3 and 2. To earn
the title, Kubesheski toppled her own IGA Women’s
Four-Ball partner, Robin Webb, by 2 and 1 decision.
Three other flights were competed in at the Forever 39
Championship. Jennifer Corkrean was the victor in the
First Flight, defeating Nancy Olberding on the 7th hole
to win 4 and 2. The Second Flight championship match
went the distance and then some, with Julie Hartman
ge�ng the better of Paige Boyd on the 10th hole to take
first-place.
Stacey Kinsey went 3-0 in the Round Robin flight. She
defeated runner-up finisher, Carroll Dethrow, by 3 and
2 decision in her second match, which proved to be the
difference in the final standings.
