“The Champion Golfer of the Year” in 2015 Zach
Johnson, was inducted into the Iowa Golf Hall of
Fame on June 1, 2016. Johnson, who turned 40 in
February, was a unanimous selection in his first
year of eligibility. His induction brought the total
membership in the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame to 69.
In 2015 Johnson outlasted Louis Oosthuizen and
Marc Leishman in a 4-hole playoff to win The Open
Championship at St. Andrews. With the victory
Johnson joined some elite company, becoming only
the sixth golfer to win majors at Augusta and St.
Andrews. The other five are SamSnead, Jack Nicklaus,
Nick Faldo, Seve Ballesteros, and Tiger Woods.
To date Johnson has amassed 12 titles on the PGA
Tour, including the two majors. He has become a
regular on the United States Ryder and President’s
Cup teams – he has played in five Ryder Cups (2006,
2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016) and four Presidents Cups
(2007, 2009, 2013, 2015). Johnson also represented
the United States in the 2005 World Cup.
