ANN GRIFFEL SCHOLARSHIP
Committee Report
One of the first members of the IWGA when it was
chartered in 1955. She served as president of the
IWGA for 23 years. During her term, four new events
were created - the Girls’ State Junior, Forever 39, Wife-
Husband, and Senior Women’s Amateur Championship.
She was a top competitior winning three Forever 39
titles and the Senior Women’s Amateur twice.
The Scholarship program is named in her honor for all
she has done for women’s golf in Iowa. Ann was inducted
into the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame in 2006.

The Iowa Golf Association Foundation (IGAF) was established to preserve the game and develop more
programs to promote the future of golf in Iowa. The IGAF awards $2,000 Ann Griffel Scholarships to Iowa
high school senior girls who intend to further their education at an Iowa institution of higher learning,
whether a college, university or trade school. This year five girls from across the state were presented
Ann Griffel Scholarships. Recipients included Valarie Davidson
of Cedar Rapids, Sarha Overton of Iowa City, Lexie Patton of
Aurelia, Lauren Tandy of Vinton, and Allyson Wertz of Cedar
Rapids.
