Kubesheski wins fifth Senior Women’s Amateur - Harmon is low Super Senior

In just her seventh year of eligibility for the Championship, Rose Kubesheski of Dubuque claimed

her fifth Iowa Women’s Senior Amateur title Tuesday at Briarwood Club of Ankeny.

In chilly and windy conditions, Kubesheski fired a three-over par round of 76 on the first day of

competition giving her a five stroke lead over Stuart’s, Janece Schwartzkopf (81).

After carding an 85 on the second day of play, Kubesheski would go on to win the tournament by

seven strokes over Schwartzkopf (81-87--168). Rounding out the top three was Kathy Fortune of

Rockwell City with rounds of 87-85 for a two-day total of 172.

Sue Harmon of Slater earned the title of Low Super Senior with rounds of 89-84--173. Harmon

finished five strokes ahead of defending Super Senior Champion, Margene Grady of Cedar Falls

(92-86--178).

Leighann LaRocca of Clive topped the First Flight, shooting 95-91--186 while Sioux Center’s Marilyn

Dean finished two strokes back to claim second place in the First Flight (96-92--188).
