HERMAN SANI SCHOLARSHIP
Committee Report
A member of Hyperion Field Club for over 50 years, where
he served various terms on the board of directors, the greens
committee and as club president.
During the Great Depression, Sani purchased Hyperion Field Club
for back taxes and gave it back to the membership.
The Herman Sani Golf Tournament began in 1950, and the
Scholarship Fund was established in 1958 after Mr. Sani’s death
to honor his passion for golf, young people, and Hyperion Field
Club.
Since 1958, 170 students have been awarded
Sani Scholarships.

2016 Scholars
Charles Jahn
Charles graduated from
Mediapolis High School and
attends Bradley Unviersity in
Peoria, IL. Charles is a preferred
walk-on for the Bradley golf
team, and he plans to pursue
a degree in engineering or the
medical field.
Karli Kerrigan
Karli graduated from Ankeny
Centennial HS and attends the
University of South Dakota in
Vermillion, SD. Karli plays on
the golf team and is studying
criminal justice and minoring in
communications with hopes of
attending law school.
Sarah Overton
Sarah graduated from Iowa City
High and attends the University
of Iowa. Sarah is a walk-on
for the Iowa women’s golf
team and is studying biology
with plans to pursue a career
in health care or the medical
research field.
Logan Schweinefus
Logan graduated from South
Winneshiek HS and attends
Upper Iowa University in
Fayette. Logan is a member of
the golf team and is studying
Ag-Business with hopes of
working with his father in the
family busniess, TLJ Grain.
