Emily Snelling, of Clear Lake, Iowa, traveled north
to Hastings, Minnesota in her persuit in qualifying
for the U.S. Girls’ Junior Amateur. She competed
against a strong field with only four spots up for
grab.
Emily played one of the most consistent rounds of
the qualifier. She began by making seven straight
pars before making her only bogey of the round
on the short par four eighth hole. She quickly
reversed that blemish by making birdie on holes
nine and ten. She was steady from there and came
into the clubhouse with a round of 71, one under
par.
Her 71 was good enough to make it on the
number to secure a trip to the U.S. Girls’ Junior
Amateur held at Boone Valley Golf Club, in
Augusta, Missouri. While at the championship
Emily shot rounds of 83-80 to miss qualifying for
match play.
