Rose Kubesheski once again wins the IGA Senior
Women’s Player of the Year.
Kubesheski, 57, of Dubuque, won the Senior Player
of the Year in 2016 and has now been honored four
times.
This year Rose won her third straight Iowa Senior
Women’s Amateur title and sixth overall. She also
qualified for the U.S. Women’s Senior Amateur in
Portland, Oregon and just missed the cut.
Kubesheski claimed the Senior Division of the IGA
Women’s Four-Ball with partner Margene Grady.
They won the title by eight strokes over Kathy
Fortune and Mary Sauter. That win makes two
Four-Ball Senior wins for Rose after winning it the
previous year with Robin Webb.
Rob Christensen won the IGA Super Senior Player of
the Year. This is a new honor started by the IGA this
year for those that are 65 years and older.
Rob started the year off well, finishing T7th at the
Iowa Mid-Amateur at Beaver Hills Country Club.
Christensen continued his play by making it to the
Round of 32 at the IGA Senior Match Play, which was
the last time he would look back. From there he got
on a roll as he picked up wins at the Carroll Amateur,
Fort Dodge Amateur, a runner-up finish at the Iowa
Masters and a win at the Briarwood Amateur.
Lastly Rob finished the year by winning the Super
Senior Division of the Iowa Senior Amateur. He was
able to secure Player of the Year honor after holding
off Dave Sergeant and David Studer. The three players
were all within 10 points entering the event.
