J
enny Heinz and Karli Kerrigan enjoyed their second consecutive IGA Women’s Four-Ball win.
The duo won the IGA Women’s Four-Ball last year at Jester Park Golf Course, where they won in
extra holes. This year at Coralville’s Brown Deer Golf Club there were no extra holes needed.
Heinz, who was the Women’s Player of the Year in 2016 and Kerrigan, who is heading into her
sophomore year at the University of South Dakota broke out of the gates fast. They shot an
opening round 65 (-6) to take a four shot lead. They followed that up with a 67 (-4) for a total
of 132 (-10). With the help of 11 birdies over the two day event, Heinz and Kerrigan won the
Open Division by a convincing six strokes over the team of Katie Hansen and Kelly Nelson, who
finished at 138 (-4).
Hansen and Nelson, both from Waterloo, shot back-to-back rounds of 69 to outdistance the
team of Janelle Carter and Julie Buerman by three strokes for runner-up honors.
