Qualifying
The 6th IGA Women’s Match Play brought an exciting finish. Although newcomers to most, Tenley
Moretti of Ankeny and Emily Snelling of Clear Lake were not unfamiliar with each other.
They both have been dominate players in the high school ranks with multiple Iowa State High School
Championships under their belts. Earlier in the summer they finished just two shots apart at the 42nd
Iowa PGA Junior Championshp where Snelling was able to edge out Moretti for the win.
It seemed fitting that they would again meet in the final match at The Harvester Golf Club.
The match was a contested battle, back and forth, but Snelling was able to pull away, winning the 16th
hole to close out the match 3 & 2 and earn the title of champion!
Jenny Heinz, who had won the 2016 IGA Women’s Match Play, fired a round of 80 in qualifying to
secure medalist honors. She would go on to be defeated in the quarterfinals against her friend and
four-ball partner Karli Kerrigan 2 & 1.
Julie Buerman who had won the Forever 39 Match Play would win her first two matches against Kelly
Grimes and Elise Warne before being defeated in the semifinals against Tenley Moretti.
