Fredericksens Win Playoff

for Super Senior Title

Reed (L) and Julianna Burkholder of Forest

City, Iowa. They won their first Wife-Husband

Championship by eight strokes outright over Jeff

and Molly Cleven.

(Pictured above) Raymond and Jeanette

Fredericksen of Cedar Falls, Iowa. They came out

on top in a sudden death playoff against Steve

and Char Maaske. (Below) Carroll Dethrow of

Nevada.

Forest City’s Julianna and Reed Burkholder played

36 holes of fantastic golf to win the 57th Iowa Wife-

Husband Championship contested at Lake Panorama

National Golf Club. The Burkholders posted back-to-

back rounds of 69, (-6) to win by eight strokes over

Jeff and Molly Cleven of Cumming.

Their opening round of 69, (-3) included six birdies

of which three of those were on the the par 5s. They

had one hiccup on the par 4, fourteenth hole where

they made a double bogey.

The Burkholders got off to a quick start in round

two, going birdie-eagle on the first two holes. From

there the couple cruised to their eventual eight-shot

victory. This marks the first outright victory in the

event for the Burkholders as they shared the title in

2015.

Tied for third place were Chris and Peggy Garrett

and newlyweds Julie and Aaron

Stevens who shot 149 (+5).

The Super Senior Division offered much

excitement. Jeanette and Raymond Fredericksen of

Cedar Falls shot consistent rounds of 79-80 (+15)

to tie Char and Steve Maaske of DeWitt shooting

80-79 (+15). To decide the winner both teams

went to the first hole for a sudden death playoff,

which was the only hole the Fredericksens needed

for the win.

Finishing third were first round co-leaders, Carroll

and John Dethrow of Nevada. They shot rounds of

79-83, (+18).

The local team from Panora, Carla and Tim

Fitzgerald finished fourth shooting 87-77, (+20).

They shot the lowest round of the tournament in

the Super Senior Division with a 77.
