Larry Crawford really began his service to Iowa golf in 1956 when he accepted the position of Golf Professional and Course Superintendent at Grinnell Golf and Country Club.

A fine player, Crawford won the 1966 Sani Invitational, beating Bob Leahy of Cedar Falls in a playoff.

During his time at Grinnell Golf and Country Club, Larry served as head golf coach at Grinnell College for nine years and founded the popular State Pee Wee Golf Tournament. Larry served as the Golf Professional at Grinnell Golf and Country Club for 30 years until his retirement.

Larry had a large impact on the young golfers in the Grinnell area during his time as a Pro. Larry was a Life member of the Grinnell Golf and Country Club, the PGA, the Iowa Golf Association and the American Legion in Tama.

Mr. Crawford was 68 when he passed away on Feb. 27, 2007.
