HOW TO JOIN
First and foremost, the IGA is an organization of member clubs. Individuals can join the IGA either through a member club (in person) or through our online signup process. Scroll to find out more about both membership types.
IGA Member Clubs see great benefit in membership. Some of the services provided to our member clubs include, but are not limited to:
Benefits of Club/Course Membership
- Course Rating & Measurement
- Tournament Management Software & support
- Handicap Management Software & support
- Eligibility for IGA Annual Awards
- Educational seminars (rules, handicapping, course rating & more)
IGA Member Clubs pay annual dues to the IGA. There is an annual club fee as well as dues for the individual members (see info below on individual memberships) at your club.
For information on joining the IGA as a member club, please contact Katelynn Hogenson. Click here to email her.
You become an IGA Individual Member through your participation in the IGA/USGA Handicap Service (GHIN®) at an IGA member golf club. Golfers enrolled as an individual member receive much more than just a handicap (see below) including the satisfaction of supporting the game of golf in Iowa.
You can join in one of two ways, in person or online.
Join in Person
Visit one of nearly 200 IGA Member Clubs and ask to get a handicap and join the IGA. Each course sets their own price, but the cost is typically $25-35 for the entire year. You can see a list of IGA Member Clubs by clicking here.
It is now easier than ever to join the IGA through our online program. Individuals can go through a step-by-step process where they pick their “home” club (nearly 100 member clubs participate in the online program), fill out a brief application and make a payment with your VISA, MasterCard or Discover card. The annual dues for an online membership is $42.

How do I form my own Golf Club?
Sometimes golfers wish to form their own golf club for handicapping purposes. Usually this is for a group of friends or acquaintances that don’t necessarily play at the same course all the time. You must have at least 10 people to form your own club. If you have interest in forming your own “Type 2” club, please email Katelynn by clicking here.
