Fore the Future

What is Fore the Future?

Fore the Future is a joint initiative between the Iowa Golf Association Foundation and Ken Schall Golf Performance Studio aimed at transforming unwanted golf clubs into complete sets for junior golfers. As an association, we’ve seen a growing demand for junior clubs and are committed to bridging the gap between the need and the available supply. Recognizing that golf can be an expensive sport, we’re proud to provide these clubs to kids at no cost to the junior.

The IGA Foundation will handle the initial collection of clubs and oversee their distribution at the end of the process. Seth Svejda, PGA, has generously partnered with the IGA Foundation on this initiative. Seth and his team at Ken Schall Golf are donating their time and resources to convert the donated clubs into junior sets. Clubs will be cut down and fit with new grips as needed.

How Can I Help?

Please note: The IGA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. All donations are tax deductible. If you are donating clubs, the IGA Foundation will provide you a receipt of your donation and can advise you on how to best assign a value to your donation.

(1) Donate Clubs

    • This initiative only works if we get club donations! Clubs will be collected the week of October 6-10 at Golf House Iowa (8050 Golf House Drive, Norwalk, IA 50211). Please drop off clubs during our normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday- Friday. Come on in through the front doors of Golf House and follow the signage to complete your donation!
      • Full sets are preferred (if you are donating lone clubs they must be putters, wedges, or woods)
    • You will be given a receipt of your donation, but the IGA Foundation will not assign an exact value. We will advise you on the best way to assign a value to your donation for tax purposes.
  • NOTE: Please do not drop off your donation outside of the donation window. Please email [email protected] with any concerns regarding the donation timeline.

(2) Donate Funds

    • Ken Schall Golf is graciously donating all the materials needed to fix up the clubs as well as their time. The money raised for Fore the Future will be used to purchase golf bags, additional repair materials, and potentially other items for the new sets we create ($25 Donation = 1 Golf Bag).

(3) Spread the Word

    • Tell your friends and family about the project! The more clubs we can get to transform for juniors the better!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there restrictions to what clubs you will take?

A: Full sets are preferred. If you are donating lone clubs they must be putters, wedges, or woods. While we are willing to take in a large variety of donations, please keep in mind that the end goal is that these clubs will be refurbished for kids to use via new grips and adjusting the length. Do not bring any clubs that are in such poor condition that they could not be reasonably refurbished.

Q: What is your target age group for the clubs?

A: We are aiming to produce clubs that would fit kids 9 to 18 years in age. How many sets we build for each age range will depend on the amount of clubs that we bring in.

Q: What is the timeline of Fore the Future?

A: Early October will consist of club collection. In late October and November the clubs will go to Ken Schall Golf Performance Studio to be fitted for junior use. Clubs will be distributed to juniors in December.

Q: How will the clubs be distributed?

A: The IGA Foundation will work with the First Tee, local PGA professionals, and high school teams to distribute clubs to the kids that need them the most.

Q: Is my donation tax deductible?

A: Yes! The IGA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and all donations are tax deductible. If you are donating clubs, the value of the clubs will need to be estimated. The IGA will supply each donor with a letter acknowledging the clubs that they donate. The IGAF will not assign values to the clubs but can advise which sites to visit on the internet to assign appropriate value to the clubs for tax purposes.
