Echo Valley CC wins 18th IGA Club Team, Veterans Memorial Golf Club takes Net title

Echo Valley Country Club now holds both men’s and women’s IGA Club Team titles as the men’s side took home the title at the 18th IGA Club Team Championship contested at newly renovated Wakonda Club in Des Moines.

Team Echo Valley CC (right) posted an impressive gross score of 209 (-7). Echo Valley CC was led by Brian Allison 66 (-6) and Dennis Bull 71 (-1). Not too far behind was Tony Birmingham 72 (E) and Gary Ellis 75 (+3). There was a tie for second at 215 (-1) between Des Moines Golf & Country Club and the 2023 champions Short Hills Country Club.

Veterans Memorial Golf Club (below), of Jason Floy, Adam Brinkman, Brent Tarr and Ryan Roske, claimed the Net Division title, winning at 207 (-9). Humboldt Country Club would finish in solo third.

Short Hills CC wins 17th IGA Club Team, Dyersville CC wins Net Division

Short Hills Country Club (above) claimed the top spot at the 17th IGA Club Team Championship hosted by Davenport Country Club. Short Hills, who posted 207 (-3) to win by six shots, was represented by Matt Schlueter, Ben Peters, Adam White and Ben Hanson. Schlueter (67) and Peters (68) finished first and second respectively in the individual portion of the event.

Finishing runner-up was the team of Geneva Golf & Country Club, who shot 213 (+3). Briarwood Golf Club and Elks Country Club tied for third with a 224 (+14) total.

Dyersville Country Club (right), led by Chance Maiers, Tyler Engelken, Mark Wessels and Rex Massey, won the Net Division (best three net scores on each hole) with a score of 201 (-9).

Geneva Golf & CC, Willow Run CC take home IGA Club Team titles

The 16th IGA Club Team Championship title went to the team of Geneva Golf & Country Club (pictured above). The team carded a three-under round of 213 to win the tournament by eight shots over Urbandale Country Club.

Geneva Golf & Country Club was led by Sam Herrmann, who also tied for first in the individual standings. Herrmann fired a three-under round of 69 that included five birdies. Tied for second on the team was Bryan Lemkau and Dillon Cooney with rounds of 72.

Placing second, as mentioned, was Urbandale Country Club with a team score of 221. Blake Dabney joined Herrmann at the top of the individual standings and led the Urbandale Country Club team. Jeff Weisenborn carded a 73 to place second on the team and Reid Turner rounded out the team’s top-three with a round of 79. 

Winning the Net Division was Willow Run Country Club (right) with a score of 200. The team defeated Monticello Golf Club by six shots and was led with rounds of 69 from Nicholas Hildebrandt and Brian DeUries. Clayton Liddle was the third counting score for the squad, posting a net round of 74 to give Willow Run Country Club a dominating victory. 

Monticello Golf Club tallied a 206 in the Net Division and was led by Dustin Hall. He carded a net round of 70, but also finished in third place in the gross individual standings with a 71. Kevin Goedken and Kevin Bergman were Monticello Golf Club’s final two scorers with a 71 from Goedken and a 74 posted by Bergman.

Ankeny G&CC, Monticello GC take home titles at 15th IGA Club Team Championship

Ankeny Golf and Country Club (above) and Monticello Golf Club took home the hardware after Monday’s round at the 15th IGA Club Team Championship , hosted at The Meadows Golf Club in Dubuque.

The Ankeny Golf and Country Club team included Joe Bethel, Curtis Holck, Cody Holck and Keith Walton. They compiled a two-over team score of 218 to win the Gross Division by four shots over Geneva Golf and Country Club. 

Bethel led the way for his team and claimed the win in the individual standings after carding a two-under round of 70. Curtis Holck fired a one-over 73 in his round and his son, Cody Holck, posted a three-over 75. Walton rounded out his team with a four-over 76 and finished in a tie for 14th in the individual standings.

Monticello Golf Club (above) team featured Dustin Hall, Mike Wennekamp, Kevin Goedken and Phil McDonald. All together they put together a net score of 214 and finished two-under, surpassing Dyersville Country Club #2 by three shots.

Hall and Wennekamp finished in a tie for ninth place after carding rounds of 75 to end the day at three-over. Goedken posted a seven-over 79 and finished in a tie for 24th in the individual standings. McDonald finished 15-over after a round of 87.

Glen Oaks CC wins 14th IGA Club Team title, Ballard CC grabs Net Division

The 14th IGA Club Team Championship could be described in one word this year – windy.

Players from 19 IGA member clubs battled breezy conditions all day at Hyperion Field Club on Monday. Glen Oaks CC (pictured above), who posted a score of 281 (+2) in the Gross Division (best 3 of 4 18-hole scores) took home the title this year over Geneva Golf & CC by three shots.

Glen Oaks, led by Scott Hart’s 70 (-2), made a back nine charge with six birdies and an eagle of the three scores that were used for the team competition. Echo Valley CC and Landsmeer Golf Club finished in a tie for third place at 225 (+9).

In the Net Division, Ballard CC (pictured above), posted a team score of -5 and pulled away from the field, with the help of 16 net birdies, to win by five shots over Geneva Golf & CC (E). The format in the Net Division is a best three of four net scores on each hole. Glen Oaks CC finished in third place (+1).

Landsmeer GC wins 13th IGA Club Team, two tied for Net Division title

The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center hosted the 13th IGA Club Team. With cooler temperatures and misty conditions at times, the team from nearby Landsmeer Golf Club (pictured above) fired an impressive score of 212 (-1) to outdistance second place Fort Dodge Country Club by nine strokes in the Gross Division. TJ Korver (above right), of Landsmeer GC, led the way with his own 69 (-2) which was the low score of the day by one. The Gross Division is score by taking the low three scores of each team’s four players.

In the Net Division, which the low three (net) scores on each hole are counted for a team, two teams tied for the title. The Ridge Golf Club (#1) playing on home turf tied with Willow Run County Club at 205 (-8).

Des Moines Golf & CC wins IGA Club Team, Prairie Links GC takes Net Division

Conditions were tough at the 12th IGA Club Team Championship at Blue Top Ridge at Riverside.

Des Moines Golf & CC (2) edged their fellow club members by a single shot 218-219. The team of Luke Miller, Ben Herrera, Patrick Breitbach and Alex Bair formed the winning team from DMG. Ottumwa Country Club finished in third place at 219 (+3). In the Gross Division, won my DMG (2), is scored by counting the low three scores of the four on each team.

In the Net Division, Prairie Links Golf Course shot 209 (-7) to win by three over Dyersville Country Club (2). Prairie Links GC’s team consisted of Chris Wagner, Patrick Sexton, Tony Wagner and William Buss. In the Net Division, the three low scores (net) on each hole are counted towards the team total.

Just Pansegrau, of St. Andrews Golf Course, was the low individual with a 69 (-3), including a sizzling 31 on the back nine.
