IGA takes Iowa Cup lead 12-8 after opening day
The 57th Iowa Cup Matches was in full swing on Thursday at Short Hills Country Club located in East Moline, Illinois.
In the morning Four-Ball matches, between Team IGA and Team Iowa PGA, a possible 10 points were up for grabs, and it was split dead even at five points a piece for each team.
Team IGA had a couple key matches that set the tone early. Aaron Obrien and Trent Lindenman put the hammer down on IPGA Pros Zach Steffen and Casey Harvey winning 4&3. Also sparking victory was Ron Peterson and Ben Peters winning 3&2 against Kevin Trobaugh and JR Miller.
After lunch Foursome matches were up and it was anyone’s ball game. Foursome matches were also out of 10 possible points and Team IGA came to play once again obtaining seven to the IPGAs three points.
Key matches in the afternoon were won by Nate McCoy and Trent Lindeman defeating IPGA players Zach Steffens and Davis Sutton 5&4. Dusty Drenth and Kelly Brown had their foot on the gas in the afternoon as well winning 4&3 against Tracy Vest and Dave Ranney.
Team IGA holds a slight four point lead over Iowa PGA, 12 to 8. Singles matches start at 8 a.m. with a total of 20 points up for grabs.
