Meet Karli

As the Director of Competitions for the IGA, Karli Kerrigan works hard to provide the best player experience at IGA championships. Although Karli is often seen administering golf tournaments, she also knows how to compete. Before Karli was named Director of Competitions she was a class 5A Iowa High School State Champion, an IGA Junior Girls’ Player of the Year, an Iowa Girls’ Junior Amateur Champion, and a two-time IGA Women’s Four-Ball Champion. At the collegiate level, Karli won the 2019 Heart of America Athletic Conference Individual title while competing for Grand View University. More recently Karli has competed in the IGA Women’s Mid-Am Series events and is always in the hunt for the title.

Karli is an outstanding representative for this fundraiser not only due to her competitive golf experience, but her connection to the IGA scholarships. Karli is part of the distinguished group of past Sani Scholars and continues to exemplify the esteemed attributes associated with the scholarship. Although the Sani is different from the Griffel, both scholarships are held in high regard and are celebrated together during the Herman Sani Tournament.

Karli shares her excitement to give back in this way stating, “I’m excited to participate in this year’s 100 Competitive Holes Fundraiser to support the Ann Griffel Scholarship through the IGA Foundation. As a past scholar recipient, I know firsthand how impactful these scholarships are not only from the financial side but also for networking and professional development. Each year the Griffel Committee awards five well-deserving applicants the opportunity to continue their education and for many, their passion for the game of golf. Knowing the dollars raised will go towards one of these scholarships makes me eager to engage with the golf community.”

About the Fundraiser

Karli has committed to playing 100 holes of competitive golf in support of the Ann Griffel Scholarship fund. Rounds must be played in sanctioned tournaments, such as IGA events, college events, club championships, or other state association events to count towards the 100-hole goal. The Ann Griffel scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship given to five deserving Iowa high school seniors each year who plan to continue on to higher education at an Iowa institution.

The scholarship honors Ann Griffel, an individual who changed the women’s golf scene in Iowa forever. Griffel served as president of the Iowa Women’s Golf Association for 23 years. During that time, Ann led the charge to start new tournaments such as the Iowa Junior Girls’ Amateur, the Iowa Wife-Husband, the Forever 39 Match Play, and the Iowa Senior Women’s Amateur. Griffel enjoyed competing in some of these events herself as she was a three-time champion of the Forever 39 Match Play and an eleven-time champion of the Iowa Senior Women’s Amateur. The legacy of Ann Griffel will never be lost upon Iowa golf through the events she created and the scholarship in her honor.
