58th Iowa Cup Matches

The 58th Iowa Cup Matches take place Tuesday and Wednesday (September 30 – October 1) at Ames Golf & Country Club. This annual competition is comprised of a Ryder Cup style format where the top Iowa Golf Association Amateurs will face off against the top Iowa Section PGA Professionals.
The first two rounds of team competition include Four-Ball and Foursome matches. The final round of the event will consist of singles matches.
Ron Van Buskirk, Sioux City, will serve at the Honorary Captain for the IGA. Ron has been a long-time volunteer and participant of the IGA. He served as President of the IGA from 2005 to 2007, as well as a full stint on the Board of Directors. He also served for many years on the board of the IGA Foundation before stepping down approximately a year ago. Scott Howe of Des Moines G&CC is the Honorary Captain for the Iowa PGA.
As previously released, the Iowa Golf Association (IGA) and Iowa Section PGA Boards approved a series of changes to the format of the annual Iowa Cup Matches. Beginning with the 2025 edition, each team — one representing Iowa’s best amateurs and the other made up of top PGA professionals in the state — will consist of 12 players instead of the traditional 20. Iowa Cup Match Format:
Round 1 – Four-Ball Matches – 18 Holes, 1 point per match
Round 2 – Foursome Matches (Alternate Shot) – 18 Holes, 1 point per match
Round 3 – Singles Matches – 18 Holes, 1 point per match
TOTAL POINTS – Round 1 = 10 + Round 2 = 10 + Round 3 = 20 = 40 Total Points
