What is Fore the Future?
Fore the Future is a joint initiative between the Iowa Golf Association Foundation and Ken Schall Golf Performance Studio aimed at transforming unwanted golf clubs into complete sets for junior golfers. As an association, we’ve seen a growing demand for junior clubs and are committed to bridging the gap between the need and the available supply. Recognizing that golf can be an expensive sport, we’re proud to provide these clubs to kids at no cost to the junior.
The IGA Foundation with support from the Golf Club of Iowa in Cedar Rapids will handle the initial collection of clubs. Seth Svejda, PGA, has generously partnered with the IGA Foundation on this initiative. Seth and his team at Ken Schall Golf are donating their time and resources to convert the donated clubs into junior sets. Clubs will be fit with new grips and cleaned as needed. Then, the IGA Foundation will handle distribution of the completed sets across the state.
Last year we were able to give out over 70 sets to Iowa High Schools and in-state First Tee Chapters. We are excited to see what this year brings!

If you don’t have clubs to donate, please consider giving financially to the mission of Fore the Future. Last year, we raised over $7,000 and we used all of it to cover the expenses of the project. Funds will be used for:

Any excess funds will go towards Fore the Future in future years or other junior golf initiatives

Are there restrictions to what clubs you will take?
Due to limited donation storage space, we have to limit what we are able to take. Please read through the donation guidelines to see what donations will be accepted: Donation Guidelines
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes! The IGA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and all donations are tax deductible. If you are donating clubs, the value of the clubs will need to be estimated. The IGAF will supply each donor with a letter acknowledging the clubs that they donate. The IGAF will not assign values to the clubs but can advise which sites to visit on the internet to assign appropriate values to the clubs for tax purposes.
What is the timeline of Fore the Future?
October 20 & 21: Club collection
November through February: Club organization and repair, with the assistance of Ken Schall Golf
March: Clubs distributed to juniors
How will clubs be distributed?
The IGA Foundation has sent out surveys to all high school golf coaches across Iowa to assess the need of different schools. Clubs will be distributed according to that need and to spread out donations as much as possible. With junior specific sets, the IGA Foundation will work with local First Tee chapters and members of our community to find the best homes.
Who is Ken Schall Golf?
Ken Schall Golf Performance Studio is based in West Des Moines, Iowa. The studio’s core services are lessons, club fitting, and club repair. Their vision is to help golfers of all abilities fulfill their full potential. The studio is home to five Trackman bays and allows their members to schedule practice time any time between 5 am and 11 pm. Who is the Golf Club of Iowa?
The Golf Club of Iowa is a 24/7 premiere indoor golf studio located in Marion, Iowa. The studio is equipped with Trackman Technology and Puttview. The studio offers lessons, leagues, and a junior golf academy. The Golf Club of Iowa is generously assisting us with the club collection portion of Fore the Future. If you drop off clubs there on Tuesday, October 20 or Wednesday, October 21 you will earn a member for a day promotion to experience the club for yourself.
