IGA Senior Match Play Championships Conclude After Weather Delays

The Iowa Golf Association (IGA) Senior Match Play Championships have officially wrapped up, with all three division champions determined following weather delays that disrupted the event’s original schedule of August 12–14.
Due to the weather and the postponement of the event until further notice, players in each division coordinated their semifinal and championship matches at Fort Dodge on dates that worked for those involved. The remaining matches were recently completed, officially crowning champions in the Men’s Senior, Women’s Senior and Men’s Super Senior divisions.
In the Men’s Senior Division, Joe Palmer edged Gene Elliott, winning 1 up in a closely contested final. In the Men’s Super Senior Division, Tony Malizia outlasted Todd Sapp in a hard-fought match that went 20 holes to claim the title. The Women’s Senior Division also required extra holes, as Rose Kubesheski defeated Geri Huser in 20 holes to secure the championship.
Congratulations to Malizia, Kubesheski and Palmer on their championship performances, and to all the competitors who participated in this year’s IGA Senior Match Play.
